On a very hot summer day (yes, it DID get really hot for a few days last summer…) I met Ozlem. We were a bunch of Turkish people sitting in Kaisaniemi park on a sort of spontaneous picnic. We talked a bit that day and that was it. A few months later, I would get to know her better and see what a lovely person she is to talk to!
I was happy about 2 things in this recipe: 1. He let me skip fresh coriander. 2. The meat was beef. I mean, no offense little piggies, I like eating pork every now and then, but boy the smell is sometimes really heavy!
Define spicy in 3 words: Gambas Pil Pil. It’s been 2 months since Panu cooked this deep fried prawns for me, and I can still feel how hot it was as I am writing this post..
I know this man for about 4 years in theory and for roughly 2 years in practice. And nowadays I learn something new about him all the time, which surprises me usually (in a good way). For instance, when I asked him if he would want to make a co-cooking session with me, I was surprised that he came up with Spanish cuisine – and not one, not two, but three recipes!! Apparently, he is very much into Spanish cuisine – and Spanish language.
It-was-a-horrible Sunday morning. The day before, I had to stay in the same place the whole evening with one person I did not want to see, then I came home at around 1 am, and cried my eyes out until 5 am. I guess you can imagine how awful I was feeling in the morning, when I woke up at 9 after 4 hours sleep.
Soon after I started the Facebook page of the blog, a Turkish girl liked the page: Erin Turkoglu. As I do with any other “liker” that I do not personally know, I checker her Facebook profile. To my surprise, she was living in Helsinki. Oh wow, she was even a student in Aalto ARTS! How come didn’t I see her?
Ok, I don’t want to mean that the other recipes were bad, but this-one-is-good! And again, it is something that I did not normally really like!
I woke up this morning at 8. I was just staring at the ceiling, and thinking to myself, damn I have the greatest headache of all times! Hangover, hallelujah!!
It is just a normal afternoon – there is some tea in the kettle, soon there will be even more fresh one, my aunt and uncle might stop by, I really want to have some cake.. And so I tell my mother: mum, could you pleaaaase bake your black tea cake??? Pleeease, pretty pretty pleaaase! And so she quickly bakes the most wonderful cake in the world!
Let’s see… It is clean, clear, cool, not too salty.. Well, I am talking about The Black Sea. The best sea that I ever swam in. But what’s even better is that it is home to the most delicious and special fish: European Anchovy aka Hamsi in Turkish.
