Harissa Tomato Jam – Homemade Jammin

“We’re jamming” – every time Bob Marley says that, I hear “pyjamas”. Luckily a quick google search showed me that I am not the only one. But hey, this was not what I was planning to say.. Ok, I made jam!! And it’s from my most beloved fruit, tomatoes! Yes, I call tomato a fruit because I’d like to support the scientific thinking. A tomato is technically a fruit, but the use of it in mostly savoury dishes makes it a vegetable in practice. This jam, though, is not the regular jam as you know it – this one has a very, and I mean very, spicy sauce in it called “harissa”, coming from Maghreb cuisine.

Raw Cake With Lingonberry – It’s Raw, It’s Gluten Free and It’s Vegan!

I’m not going to lie, I love baking, I love what measuring each ingredient carefully, I love learning about what happens inside the oven, the science behind baking.. That’s why I don’t think I will ever be a raw-only person. But I like trying new tastes every now and then, and this time I tried a 3-layers lingonberry raw cake, inspired by Pim Pauline’s recipe. I must say, though, making a raw cake in Finland needs a nice, large budget – there’s generally a big amount of nut varieties in raw cake recipes and they are really expensive here… (But then again, what is NOT expensive?!) And I decided to put the recipe now, as it looks, and with berries and cinnamon it tastes, like Christmas!

Raw Pecan Brownies With Avocado And Peanut Butter Frosting – The Power Of Raw

As most of you know, I am not so crazy about raw food – I am not against it but I am not also trying to eat everything raw. I actually saw the photo of these brownies on instagram one day and they looked so good that I had to try it. I googled the recipe, it is a recipe by Panaceas Pantry published on shesaid.com, and I wanted to do it right away. I even searched for the matching sweet dessert wine in local Alko shop. The brownies turned out incredibly delicious and sweet but looked much more different than the photo on the recipe. Mine turned out heavy avocado colour on the upper layer, but well, who cares, it was deadly delicious in any case.

Turkish Rice With Tomatoes – And My Fear Of Rice

I have a BIG advice to you mothers out there: never discourage your child about cooking a certain dish! Your child, whatever age s/he may be, can react to this by not even “trying” to cook that dish for years and years. Ok, she might be also looking for excuses not to cook this or that, but still, don’t do that, it’s not nice. My mother scared the shit out of me when I wanted to cook rice the first time, so I did not even attempt for many years. Until one day, she, herself, told me; “why don’t you cook rice, it’s the easiest thing in the world!”. Come again??
