I looked everywhere for this salad. I wanted to have a colourful salad made out of only raw ingredients. I would have a green and yellow salad with a touch of red. I had zucchini and tomato so I looked everywhere for summer squash. None. I guess summer squash is as late as summer in the North.
Oh no… You can never put too much garlic on anything.. And oh yes… You can only beat the cold and dark winter of Helsinki with a warm and light coloured soup.
The cultural and ethnic diversity in Turkey finds a reflection in my own family as well. My father, for instance, comes from an Ubykh family, related to Circassians. I’ve never known my grandparents who were both Ubykh and who unfortunately passed away before I was born, but my father always tells me how much I look like his mother. I am as white (rather pale), calm and quiet apparently.
Here is a rather quick omelette idea for a – let’s say – weekend morning. It is not the most interesting omelette in the world, I’m sure you can think of this yourself as well! :) I am just, hmm, reminding you…
Cooking – that’s my way for relaxing, especially after a hard work day at the office. I spend a little time in my kitchen and all my senses that I lose during the day come back. But one thing even better, apparently, is spending some kitchen-time with a friend!

I cannot spend a day without eating tomatoes. I like putting some salt on a tomato and eating it like a snack for example. Or I like mixing it with yoghurt.. But out there in the markets, there are so many different types of tomatoes that I was confused for a long time which one to buy.
My lovely cousin, whom I saw after 9 years in Paris recently, gave a wonderful tip: steam the vegetables! And as soon as I came back from Paris, I started steaming, oh boy, the vegetables never tasted better.
This time last year I was 65 kilos and I was in a big depression after a bad breakup. From July until October, I lost 15 kilos by the help of Dukan diet and right now I am lighter physically and I have a lighter depression.
In my family, it was always, but always my mother who cooked. We, the kids, were all supposed study and make our homework and do not interfere with her work in her kitchen. This is why I didn’t know how to cook anything at all for a long time.
