It’s official: Arctic char is a fantastic fish with absolutely delicious taste in any form of cooking. It is also one of the most stylish fish with the little pink polka dots on its skin.
A few weeks ago, I met my friends Anja (German), Gaspar (Argentinian) and Aneta (Bulgarian) in this little place called Soi Soi Kasvisravintola to have a vegetarian evening on Vaasankatu. We ended up eating, yes, but it was a bit like fighting with the food!
Sunday lunch with family. This is what I miss. Everyone gathering around our table, having lunch and staying around the table for hours. This is what I miss. My mother, cooking. This is what I miss, the most.
A few weeks ago, I woke up on a Sunday morning with a very nice hangover. I could barely open my eyes, had a huge headache and my stomach desperately needed something spicy and rather greasy. I would either go to the nearest Hesburger and buy the greasiest thing in the menu, or I would create something from my fridge. Fortunately, I chose the second option.
Since April 2013 I’ve been working in Aalto University, Creative Sustainability Master Program (the one I graduated from), as an events coordinator / teaching assistant. My job is mainly to organise academic and social events / activities related to the program.
I have never been crazy about ice cream – when I was living in Istanbul, though, at the peak of summer heat I loved eating lemon ice cream most of the time. I actually prefer sorbet to fight against hot weather. But when my friend Malin told me about this one certain Finnish ice cream brand, I thought of nothing but trying it!!
Have you ever baked bread? Bread is such an essential and basic food that once you are able to make one – and if it is especially a nice, crusty bread with several flavours, then you will feel really happy and accomplished. Well, at least you feel like you can really feed people now!
Update on 18.11.2018: This cafe no longer exists. I am not a coffee person really. I like tea, nicely and heavily brewed tea, but I am not so keen on coffee. I drink coffee, yes, but I cannot always tell the difference between good and bad coffee. I have an espresso machine at home, but I bought it to make tiramisu any time I want.
