I know this man for about 4 years in theory and for roughly 2 years in practice. And nowadays I learn something new about him all the time, which surprises me usually (in a good way). For instance, when I asked him if he would want to make a co-cooking session with me, I was surprised that he came up with Spanish cuisine – and not one, not two, but three recipes!! Apparently, he is very much into Spanish cuisine – and Spanish language.
Soon after I started the Facebook page of the blog, a Turkish girl liked the page: Erin Turkoglu. As I do with any other “liker” that I do not personally know, I checker her Facebook profile. To my surprise, she was living in Helsinki. Oh wow, she was even a student in Aalto ARTS! How come didn’t I see her?
Ok, I don’t want to mean that the other recipes were bad, but this-one-is-good! And again, it is something that I did not normally really like!
Let’s see… It is clean, clear, cool, not too salty.. Well, I am talking about The Black Sea. The best sea that I ever swam in. But what’s even better is that it is home to the most delicious and special fish: European Anchovy aka Hamsi in Turkish.
Nowadays I am in a frittata craze. I make all sorts of frittata with a variety of ingredients on Sunday mornings. It is easy to make, mostly you can make it using ingredients at home and it is completely filling, with a rich taste.
Life is strange. There was a time when I forgot to put eggs in an omelette, or when I put an incredible amount of salt instead of sugar in a cake. But today I am able to cook and bake all the food that I long for – especially those that taste like home.
Last week I was working from home, writing a boring report for work. It was actually just a normal report but I felt bored because all I wanted to do was, as usual, to cook or to bake something. So when it got to be almost lunch hour, I stopped writing and switched the kitchen table that I was writing on to cooking surface.
Dear Avocado! How could I live without you for so many years? I see those years as “lost”!
Iran and Turkey are two neighbours but I did not know anything about Iranian cuisine, nor much about Iranian people until I came to Finland. And I must say that while I find Iranian people very warm and easy to communicate, the Iranian cuisine equally amazes me with the taste and the effort given to make the food.
Scones.. Well, I actually do not have a very big personal connection to them. Therefore I do not have any specific story to tell, related to what led me to bake this recipe. But I can write about how they turned out though. And how photogenic they are.
